OBIT/Robert E. Fraley, Founder and Chairman of Leader Enterprises, Dies in Plane Crash with Payne Stewart

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BW SportsWire)--Oct. 26, 1999--
Robert E. Fraley, 46, was founder and Chairman of Leader Enterprises Inc., an Orlando, Fla.-based sports management and marketing company.
Born in Winchester, Tenn., on Feb. 3, 1953 to Corrinne and Charles Fraley, Fraley graduated from Franklin County High School in 1971 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1975 at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., followed by a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1979. He earned a Masters degree in taxation in 1980 from the University of Florida Law School in Gainesville, Fla.
At the University of Alabama, Fraley played intercollegiate football under the legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant. He was a quarterback on Alabama's 1973 11-0 team which played in the Sugar Bowl for the National Championship. Fraley was a member of the Southeastern Conference Academic All-SEC Football team, presented for outstanding performance as athlete and scholar. In addition, he was a recipient of the Charlie Compton Award, presented to the senior athlete at the University of Alabama who demonstrated outstanding Christian character and leadership.
Fraley began his legal career in Nashville, Tenn. practicing law with George Crawford and Fred Thompson, then joined Holland and Knight in its Lakeland, Fla. office. He specialized in Federal taxation, business and estate planning. He then moved to Orlando and began his own law practice that evolved over the years into the current firm of Leader Enterprises, Inc. He was chairman of the board. He was a member of Orangewood Presbyterian Church since 1989 and served on the Board of Ligonier Ministries.
Fraley is survived by his wife, Dixie Leigh Johnston Fraley, his mother Corrinne Turner Fraley, his father, Hubert Charles Fraley, Winchester, Tenn.; brother, Edwin Charles Fraley and wife, Beth, Prattville, Ala.; sister, Diane Fraley Hickman and husband, John, Winchester, Tenn.; sister Janice Fraley King and husband Freddie, Winchester, Tenn.; nieces and nephews Pete, Chuck and Brandi King, Nik and Chris Fraley, and Cori Hickman, Winchester, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Lauren, Elizabeth and Tracey Johnston and Hannah, Lydia and nephew Paul Johnston of Auburn, Ala.
Services for Robert Fraley are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Orangewood Presbyterian Church, 1300 W. Maitland Boulevard, Maitland, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Leader Foundation Inc., a not for profit corporation benefiting youth, the poor and homeless, and Christian ministries.
