ARV Assisted Living Appoints Francis X. Rodgers V.P. for Southern California Regional Operations

COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1999--

Francis X. Rodgers has joined ARV Assisted Living Inc. (AMEX:SRS) as regional vice president in charge of the company's Southern California operations.

In this capacity he will oversee one of ARV's largest regions, comprising 20 communities in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties.

Rodgers reports to Robertson K. Chandler, ARV's senior vice president of operations. Said Chandler: "We are pleased to have Fran Rodgers on board to help us strengthen ARV's Southern California operations. California is ARV's primary geographic focus, and the continued growth and success of this region is vital to maintaining the company's position as the state's leading assisted living provider."

Rodgers came to ARV from Life Care Centers of America, a Cleveland-based skilled nursing company. He most recently served as divisional vice president for the company's Southwest Division, responsible for 34 Life Care Centers in Arizona, California and Nevada.

Previously, Rodgers was director of operations for Guardian Health Group, a skilled nursing company based in Corte Madera, Calif., and was regional vice president of operations for Tustin, Calif.-based Regency Health Services. Earlier, Rodgers spent 11 years with the Hillhaven Corp. (now part of Vencor Inc.), last serving as director of operations in Southern California.

Rodgers, 45, is a resident of Dana Point, Calif. He completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Arizona in Tucson, earning his B.A. in psychology and his master's degree in public planning and administration/specialty in long term care administration, University of Arizona College of Business and Public Administration. He is a native of Pennsylvania.
