Business Wire, Sept 13, 1999

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1999--

The World Gaming Network (WGN) is introducing the first Employment History Database (EHD) dedicated exclusively to the gaming industry during the World Gaming Congress this week, according to WGN General Manager Julie Hakman.

"After a series of meetings with key industry leaders, WGN has created a standardized database of gaming employee job histories," said Hakman. "We will be offering interactive opportunities to see firsthand how this industry-designed program can help companies hire the right employees through an efficient and legally protected process."

WGN can be found at booth No. 902 during the World Gaming Congress show; hours are from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 14-15, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

WGN, in conjunction with industry leaders, developed a format of employment termination information for participating properties to share for their mutual benefit. Noted gaming attorney Tony Cabot, a partner with Lionel Sawyer & Collins, served as development coordinator for the program that will help weed out problem applicants while identifying potentially valuable employees.

"With a turnover rate of 45 percent, there has always been a lot of movement in the gaming industry, and with new properties opening up one after another, the new employee market is particularly active right now," Hakman said. "We want to help gaming properties streamline the process for getting accurate background information in the most efficient manner."

There is an increasing obligation of employers to make informed hiring decisions, said Hakman. As a Consumer Reporting Agency, WGN can provide maximum legal protection to clients seeking background information on potential employees.

WGN, a Total Information Services Inc. company, is the only Las Vegas-based company that provides employment screening services to the gaming industry in a secure, legally protected manner. The company gathers information from states, counties, customers and other sources, and specializes in computerized delivery methods for fast turnaround.
