Wu-Fu Chen Joins Axis Systems' Advisory Board; Leading Networking Entrepreneur Adds Expertise to EDA Verification Company

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1999--
Axis Systems, Inc. (Axis) an EDA technology and verification tool developer that offers the Xcite(TM) verification system, today announced that Wu-Fu Chen, a world renown networking expert, who founded more than five networking industry success stories, has joined Axis' advisory board. Mr. Chen is currently chairman of four networking companies.
Axis customers use its Xcite verification system to verify and debug systems-on-chip (SoC) design functionality for networking and multimedia applications.

Mr. Chen most recently served as the Chairman of Shasta Networks. Prior to Shasta, Mr. Chen was the VP of technology at Cisco Systems where he led the company's multi-service access concentrator product development, and was a member of Cisco's Service Providers Voice Strategy and Technologies panel.
Mr. Chen founded five successful networking industry companies, including Shasta Networks (acquired by Nortel Networks), Ardent Communications Corporation, (acquired by Cisco Systems), Cascade Communications (acquired by Ascend Communications), Arris Networks (acquired by Cascade), Cameo Communications, and Communications Equipment Corporation (acquired by AT&T/Paradyne).
Mr. Chen served as founder and Vice President of Engineering at Cascade Communications, where he guided Cascade through IPO and on to the company's peak of nearly $10 billion market cap.
Mr. Chen was featured in a front-page column of the Wall Street Journal on June 3, 1999.
