Unisys Introduces Web-Based Output Management Server for SAP R/3: Immediate Distribution of Any Output, Anywhere for R/3 Solutions
Business Wire, Sept 14, 1999
BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1999--
Unisys Corporation today announced Output Management Server for SAP R/3, technology for automatically distributing output from R/3 inter-enterprise business solutions to virtually anywhere in the enterprise, immediately, via the Web or printed document.
This Web-enabled Unisys solution lets users capitalize on advanced electronic business technology to further collaborative computing across the enterprise.
Unisys Output Management Server for SAP R/3 lets the user publish report data generated by an SAP R/3 solution on a secure Web page for instantaneous access, without paper, from anywhere in the enterprise. Featuring the ability to publish into a secure web-directory, the technology generates e-mail messages that either deliver the information, or notification of it being available, to authorized recipients.
Distribution of information with Output Management Server for SAP R/3 eliminates the need for specialized scripts needed to format reports, as well as for preprinted forms onto which report data are printed. Reports can now be formatted using a template created in Microsoft Word, which users populate with data from their SAP R/3-based solution.
Output Management Server for SAP R/3 also distributes print files over open networks, enabling users to distribute and print SAP R/3 files across the enterprise, using multivendor heterogeneous printers and print servers. As a result, the time needed to distribute a large volume of documents can be reduced from days to minutes.
"The timeliness of Web-based document distribution provides a new measure of flexibility for SAP R/3 users, particularly in large enterprises," said G.W. Smith, vice president and general manager of Worldwide Business Solutions, Unisys Computer Systems. "The complications of multivendor distributed systems and the need to control a variety of print formats have until now made this a nearly insurmountable and time-consuming challenge."
Output Management Server for SAP R/3 is integrated with SAP R/3 using integration software from SuperNova, a provider of software solutions for enterprise application development and integration. The software, SuperNova for R/3 Adapter, is a general-purpose and flexible adapter that significantly simplifies R/3-related connectivity efforts.
Output Management Server for SAP R/3 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
