Scientific Becomes 'Northstar Electronics, Inc.'

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 1999--

Scientific Technologies Inc., a Delaware corporation, is pleased to announce a name change to Northstar Electronics, Inc. and a symbol change to (OTC:NEIK) (USA).

Northstar Electronics, Inc., through its operating subsidiary, Northstar Technical Inc., is a high technology developer and electronics manufacturer. Its advanced core underwater communications technology has led to the highly acclaimed NETMIND system for the commercial fishing industry. NETMIND is considered to be the best buy in the world and sales are continuing to escalate.

Northstar's customers include large international corporations such as Fishery Products International and NOAA (the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).

Other industry specific systems utilizing this technology will be geared towards the needs of the offshore oil and gas, defense, environmental, oceanographic and marine transportation industries.

Northstar's Contract Manufacturing Division is currently setting up to manufacture submarine control consoles and is actively pursuing international opportunities in sonar towed arrays for the defense industry.
