BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1999--
Northeastern University High Technology MBA Program ranks #1 in the "Top Techno MBA Survey" released today by ComputerWorld newspaper and information service. The survey covered 350 colleges and universities in the US offering Techno-MBA programs and identifies the top 25 schools that produce graduates with business and information technology skills. Northeastern University achieved the highest-ranking position while Harvard, MIT, and Stanford did not qualify for the top 25 list.
"It is an honor to have our success recognized for educational achievement and leadership," said Ira Weiss, Dean, College of Business Administration of Northeastern University. "We are proud to offer a dynamic and enriching program that attracts and empowers leading technology professionals."
The "Top Techno MBA Survey" was based on several criteria including curriculum, faculty-student ratio, class size, average starting salary for graduates, tuition and number of articles and publications authored by faculty members. Below are details on the Northeastern University High Tech MBA Program:
-- 100% of students were employed within six months of graduation in 1998
-- The average starting salary of 1998 graduates was $79,120
-- The faculty-student ratio in 1998 was 27/80
-- 100% of students have related internships or work experience during enrollment
-- 40 students were in the 1998 spring graduating class
-- 100% of faculty members have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree in MIS, computer science, computer engineering or business
-- 135 articles authored by faculty members were published in the past three years
The Northeastern University High Technology MBA Program, founded in 1982, was the first of its kind in the country. The combination of a general management MBA education with an exclusive focus on the unique dynamics of the technology industry, as well as an accelerated course schedule, has made Northeastern's High Tech MBA Program one of the most sought after in the country.
"We offer the ideal program for working professionals who are accomplished in the technology field, but want to develop their management skills and business knowledge to meet the challenges and opportunities of technology-driven organizations," said Weiss. "The program combines functional business disciplines with management issues encountered in the technology industry."
The High Tech MBA Program's faculty includes leading academics and technology visionaries who have held top executive positions at major corporations, founded new companies, acted as global consultants, and authored numerous articles in business press and journals. Professors Daniel McCarthy and Marc Meyer, co-faculty chairpersons, play an instrumental role in implementing a leading-edge curriculum in a rapidly moving high technology era.
The Northeastern University High Technology MBA Program begins in September and applications for enrollment are reviewed on a rolling basis.
