EMI Music Distribution Re-Releases Classic Jethro Tull Albums

LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Sept. 29, 1999--

The people have decided that Jethro Tull are a significant part of popular culture.

Just recently the band, who have sold over 60 million albums internationally, were the subject of the million dollar question for the TV game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." Jethro Tull have been used in comedy bits by folks like Ellen DeGeneres and shows "Mad TV" and "Mystery Science TV," and the Hollywood blockbuster film "Armageddon." Their music's been used in films like "Mrs. Doubtfire."

Due to overwhelming demands from the fans, EMI Music Distribution (EMD), on Sept. 14, 1999, has re-introduced 10 Jethro Tull midline titles to the U.S. marketplace.

Marc Rashba, senior director, Catalog Marketing Group, EMD said: "We were especially excited to get involved with this campaign, as it was a collaboration with Jethro Tull's frontman Ian Anderson. He was very involved in overseeing the release of the albums."

The albums are:

-- "This Was" (1968) Initial release featuring debut song, "A Song

for Jeffery"

-- "Stand Up" (1969) Hit the U.S. Top 20 Charts featuring "Living

in the Past"

-- "Benefit" (1970) First 1 million copy seller -- U.S. No. 11

-- "Living in the Past" (1972) Contains b-sides and more --

U.S. No. 3

-- "A Passion Play" (1973) Band's No. 1 charting opus on life

after death

-- "Songs From the Wood" (1977) Combines heavy rock with

folk-influenced acoustic guitar -- U.S. No. 8

-- "Broadsword and the Beast" (1982) Mixes heavy synthesizers with

trademark flute, mandolin and heavy metal guitars -- U.S. No. 19

-- "Rock Island" (1989) Leans toward Tull's blues and rock &

roll roots

-- "Catfish Rising" (1991) Incorporates a blues-influenced style

-- "Roots to Branches" (1995) Incorporates Eastern & `70s influences

On Oct. 5, 1999, EMD will also be reintroducing: "The Best of Jethro Tull (The Anniversary Collection)." Full price double-CD in a slimline case (Digitally Remastered, Original Mixes). -0-

--   "The Best of Jethro Tull (Anniversary Collection)" will be
     supported by a 60-second DRTV television ad that begins airing
     nationally on Oct. 4, 1999. The ad will be seen on VH1, Much
     Music and on stations in the 10 Top "Tull" Markets.

--   Jethro Tull are currently touring the U.S. through October 1999,
     and again in late Winter 2000.

--   Jethro Tull will be featured on an American Airlines audio
     channel on all flights during the November/December months.

--   "j-tull dot com" album recently released in August 1999.

--   TransWorld Entertainment retail stores on Thursday, Sept. 30,
     1999, will be hosting a live Internet chat session with Jethro
     Tull founding member Ian Anderson. TransWorld's Web address is
