Business Wire, Sept 30, 1999

PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1999--

Fairchild Aerospace and Lufthansa Technik Logistik GmbH have agreed to establish a new spare parts distribution center in Europe for Fairchild and Dornier aircraft as part of Fairchild's ongoing commitment to enhance customer service.

The distribution center, based at Frankfurt Airport, will provide a quick response for spare parts requests from operators of Fairchild Dornier turboprop aircraft as well as Fairchild's new line of 32 to 105-seat jet airliners.

"A key element in this partnership is the center's Frankfurt location," said Joe Vreeman, senior vice president of customer support for Fairchild. "With Frankfurt's around-the-clock operations and flights to worldwide destinations, operators will get their parts quickly."

Establishing a European distribution center is an essential component in the supply chain. It joins the company's U.S. center at Denver's international airport as primary parts hubs for airline and corporate users.

Lufthansa Technik Logistik was formerly an integral part of Lufthansa Technik AG. The company provides spare parts service to more than 600 aircraft and more than 200 customers around the world, and also provides a full range of logistical services including procurement of materials and specialized storage facilities.

"Lufthansa Technik Logistik has established itself as a world leader in logistics management," said Fairchild's Don Mills, vice president of parts support. "The company's commitment to customer service is well-known, blending perfectly with our own goals of creating a world-class service organization."

Fairchild Aerospace Corporation is a leading manufacturer of jet and turboprop aircraft for the airline, corporate and government markets and provides a wide range of sales, support, production and engineering services for the aviation industry. In addition to its headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, and facilities in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, Fairchild Aerospace has offices in Washington D.C. and other locations worldwide.
