E-Z-EM, Inc., Announces Preliminary Results for First Quarter Fiscal 2000

WESTBURY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1999--
E-Z-EM, Inc., (AMEX EZM.A and EZM.B) today announced anticipated results for the first fiscal quarter ended August 28, 1999. Based on preliminary information, the Company expects to report net earnings of $1,798,000, $.18 per share, on net sales of $27,197,000. In the first quarter of the last fiscal year, the Company reported net earnings of $1,470,000 on net sales of $25,665,000. Basic and diluted earnings were $.15 and $.14 per share respectively. Operating profit in this year's first quarter, the sixth consecutive quarter of profitability for the Company, improved 24% to $2,545,000 from $2,050,000 last year.
E-Z-EM is the world's largest manufacturer of contrast agents for gastrointestinal radiology, and, through its wholly-owned subsidiary AngioDynamics, manufactures three types of medical devices: angiography, therapeutic and coronary. Enteric Products, Inc., reported as part of the Diagnostic segment, develops, manufactures and markets tests for detection of the ulcer-causing bacterium Helicobacter pylori.
