Business Wire, Sept 7, 1999
WORCHESTER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 7, 1999--
Sales On-line Direct announced today that one of its divisions, WWCD, would receive a facelift this month.
The new site, which is scheduled to launch on September 30, 1999 will retain the material from the current site but will provide it in a much easier format for navigation and use. The web site can be located at www.wwcd.com.
The principals of the company decided to redesign the site because it had not seen any design changes in several years. The new site will also include the new company logo which incorporates the Sales OnLine Direct logo.
An incredible 704,000 unique visitors came to the WWCD site last month, up from 637,000 the prior month and up from 464,000 back in February when the company became a part of Sales On-line Direct. In March, the company announced that 3 million visitors a year came to WWCD from around the globe. The company is proud to say that this number has nearly doubled!
Consumers who are interested in the collectibles industry will continue to find this e-commerce site filled with the extras, such as free classified's for memorabilia, collectible surveys and trivia, sports scores, a stadium and arena section for seating charts, stadium photos and directions, team schedules, addresses and phone numbers for all major league teams as well as a complete listings of the Halls of Fame.
Some of the companies that WWCD hosts include The Dick Butkus Football Network, Internet Sports Awards and the MCI National Sports Gallery.
Rich Sports, also hosted on the site, finished No. 2 last year with The Upper Deck Company and currently is one of only two Master Hobby Distributors with Steiner Sports. Also included in this formidable group is Phils Collectibles which reported to be one of the largest Sports Illustrated magazine dealers in the world; Trumpets East is the largest trading card repacker in the country; Rainbow Card Company, a non-sports card company; Card Collectors Company, serving Collectors since 1951, sells trading cards and produces reprints of high quality cards, such as the T206 set.
WWCD also hosts one of the other divisions of Sales On-line Direct, Rotman Auctions. The list continues and is equally as prestigious.
"The Internet has been providing consumers with the ability to purchase or sell memorabilia in an easy and comfortable environment from their home computers for nearly 5 years. Items that used to be difficult to find are now at our fingertips. This is what continues to make WWCD so successful," stated Marc Stengel, an Officer of Sales On-line Direct, Inc. and the originator of WWCD. "No matter where the collector is from around the globe, items are sold and purchased daily. We continuously service consumers from over 120 countries. Some of them include Japan, Australia, Germany, Brazil, India, China, Indonesia, and Cyprus," he added.
One of the most notable aspects of WWCD is that it not only hosts the sites on its web site, but it also offers in-house design and maintenance of them for the dealers.
"Most companies today cannot boast this kind of 'full-service' approach. There seems to be a separate company for design, hosting, programming and domain name registration. We proudly handle all aspects under one roof to assure that the project is complete, accurate and timely." says Mr. Stengel.
The other divisions of Sales On-line Direct will also undergo renovations in the coming months. Rotman Auction, which made some major changes back in May will continue to evolve with a new home page that will integrate with the other sites operated by Sales On-line Direct.
