Abatis Announces I-Link Inc. to Evaluate the Abatis Enterprise Service Point for Integrated Voice and Data Services Offering; Abatis Hits Another Milestone

Business Wire, Sept 8, 1999

VANCOUVER, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 1999--

Abatis Systems Corporation today announced I-Link Inc., a leading enhanced voice/data service provider, is undertaking a comprehensive lab evaluation of the Abatis Enterprise Service Point (ESP), the industry's first intelligent access device for advanced IP services.

Designed specifically for service providers, the Abatis ESP allows providers to offer guaranteed quality advanced IP services on demand and on a pay as you go basis. The Abatis ESP provides integrated access for voice and data services using patented IP quality of service techniques.

"At I-Link, we're focused on delivering enhanced products and services that not only provide expanded capabilities and carrier-grade reliability, but are also less expensive and easy to use," said Mark Hewitt, Vice President of Business Development. "We expect our lab evaluation of the Abatis ESP to confirm its ability to control and guarantee performance, bandwidth and security characteristics for individual traffic flows."

The evaluation, expected to start later this month, marks yet another milestone for Abatis. In April, the company introduced the Business Services Architecture, the foundation for selling advanced IP services on demand. The first product to implement this revolutionary architecture is the Abatis ESP, unveiled in May. The innovative technology of both the architecture and the Enterprise Service Point was a key reason the company was selected in June as a "Hot Pick" in the "1999 Start-Ups to Watch" feature of Telecommunications Magazine. Finally, in addition to this release, a separate announcement issued yesterday by Abatis introduces another new product, the Abatis Network Services Contractor, the industry's first service activation system for on demand, pay as you go IP services.

"Carriers are telling us that they want to move from selling bandwidth to selling advanced services. Abatis provides them with a powerful product set and compelling business model to make that happen," said John Seminerio, President of Abatis Systems. "Thanks to the outstanding effort of our highly talented team here at Abatis, there's absolutely no question that we are on time and on target with our family of products," Seminerio added. "Now that we've delivered as promised, we anticipate working closely with I-Link during the evaluation phase and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial association."
