TeleComputing and Leading Honda Distributor in Europe Team to Streamline IT Process Through ASP Model; Hasco AS Presents Benefits of TeleComputing's Hosted Solution at iForum Event
Business Wire, Sept 9, 1999
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1999--
Hasco AS, the exclusive distributor of Honda automobiles in Norway, today discussed the benefits of adopting a hosted application IT solution from pioneering application service provider (ASP) TeleComputing.
In an address at the annual Citrix Systems, Inc. iForum event, a two-day conference on server-based computing, Odd Rustad Nilssen, Advisor to CEO at Hasco, discussed TeleComputing's role in helping improve his company's competitiveness and efficiency through a remotely-hosted and managed capability delivered by TeleComputing to more than 100 users at multiple locations across the country. The automotive executive outlined how TeleComputing migrated Hasco's mission-critical automotive applications from UNIX to NT in record time, and how the company also depends on TeleComputing's 99.7% uptimes and unmatched security and performance for Windows-based productivity applications such as Microsoft Office and e-mail.
"TeleComputing's solution is enabling us to streamline the way in which we are doing business," said Rustad Nilssen. "We feel that we are now in control of our applications and IT systems, and can fully identify where any issues lie. We were extremely impressed with the efficiency with which TeleComputing was able to get the solution that we were looking for up and running."
Rustad Nilssen told the yearly gathering of CIOs and other IT executives of the challenges his company faced in streamlining a complex IT environment that included many specialized applications, as well as internal users and remote partners dispersed across many sites. The situation was further complicated by several "customizations" performed by individual users. He sought a solution that would not only enable better management of this environment, but also facilitate communication and the flow of information between Hasco's six offices and 52 dealerships around the country.
After looking extensively at alternatives such as contracting and traditional outsourcing, Rustad Nilssen decided on an ASP approach from TeleComputing. TeleComputing implemented, evaluated and tested all the applications that Hasco required and approved the software for deployment from its own highly-secure servers and its unique TECOS software infrastructure. Now the company's 111 employees access the company's mission critical automotive applications as well as Microsoft Office 97, E-mail and the Internet from TeleComputing's data center just outside Oslo.
Hasco now has a much more robust and flexible architecture thanks to TeleComputing. Users have greater application availability and are able to access their applications from home if necessary. In addition, Hasco has now connected all the Honda dealerships to the TeleComputing data center to access its critical automotive applications, Autosoft's ABS, so that each of them can have up-to-the-minute information that they require on Honda cars.
