SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1999--
Seattle FilmWorks Will Post Race For The Cure Photos On
The Internet For Free
Seattle FilmWorks (Nasdaq:FOTO), a leader in Internet-based digital imaging, is providing 5,000 disposable cameras to the Puget Sound Komen Race For The Cure(R) affiliate efforts.
The cameras will be sold at registration events prior to the race and at booths during the race with profits from camera sales benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Each team participating in the event will receive a free disposable camera. Through the use of Seattle FilmWorks' service, PhotoWorks(R), event photos will be posted on the Internet at Seattle FilmWorks' Website www.filmworks.com. Race participants can view race day images, share them with friends, and order reprints simply by clicking on the online image. All profits from reprints will be contributed to the Puget Sound Komen Race For The Cure(R) affiliate.
"You can describe an event like this, but until you actually see it, you can never really feel what the Komen Race For The Cure is all about," said Mike Boze, board member of the Susan G. Komen Puget Sound affiliate. "That's what makes Seattle FilmWorks such a great sponsor. We hope that through their support, the pictures from the race will help to generate even more awareness about breast cancer and Komen Race For The Cure efforts."
In addition, Seattle FilmWorks will donate the services of a professional photographer who will take pictures throughout the day. The photographer will take group photos of the cancer survivors expected to participate in this year's Race events. Survivors will be able to order a free 8 x 10" photo by calling Seattle FilmWorks Customer Service Department at 1-800-345-6967.
The sixth annual Western Washington Komen Race For the Cure(R) kicks off Sunday, September 12th, at University of Washington's Husky Stadium. The 5K run/fitness walk will begin with registration from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. and conclude with an awards and recognition ceremony.
"Breast cancer survivors have a remarkable story to tell," stated Gary Christophersen, President and CEO of Seattle FilmWorks. "By providing cameras and capturing the day's events we are giving the participants the opportunity to share the profound memories of this emotional experience."
Prior to the race, the cameras will be available for $10 at Fast Lady Sports, Super Jock n' Jill, Sound Sports, The Oak Barn, and The Foot Zone in Issaquah. In addition, the cameras can be found at all Seattle FilmWorks locations and, on September 11th at the KLSY live-remote registration event at Fast Lady Sports at University Village.
