SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2000
LicenseMusic.com, the leading online provider of music for film productions, today announced that Playboy Entertainment Group Inc., a subsidiary of Playboy Enterprises Inc. (NYSE:PLA), has entered into a contract to source music content over the Internet.
Playboy's Entertainment Group, which operates Playboy TV networks worldwide and creates and distributes programming for international home video and television markets, will license music for home videos through LicenseMusic.com (www.licensemusic.com), the first Web-based licensing and delivery service to specifically serve the global production and content creation industries.
The agreement gives Playboy the right to license music via LicenseMusic.com through the end of this calendar year from a customized collection of LicenseMusic.com tracks. This subset is tailored exclusively for Playboy and made available through a dedicated URL that was created especially for Playboy's producers.
"We are thrilled to be working with Playboy," stated LicenseMusic.com President/CEO Gerd Leonhard. "Throughout Playboy's history, they have been a leader in using cutting-edge production techniques. It is not surprising that they are the first major home video player to embrace the Web and the advantages that LicenseMusic.com offers.
"Our arrangement allows Playboy's music supervisors to immediately license music tracks that have been pre-cleared for Master and Sync rights. This has never been available before."
"This is a great new production tool that allows our editors, directors and producers to find, access, preview and license music at the speed of the Internet," said Sol Weisel, senior vice president, production and operations for Playboy Entertainment Group. "LicenseMusic.com has created a very user-friendly database that also allows for inputting comments about previewed tracks that can be shared with other members of the production."
The selected songs will be used in productions of Playboy Entertainment Group's best-selling home videos.
LicenseMusic.com represents the catalogs of 150 record labels and music publishers specifically for production use in the audio/visual industry. This collection currently contains more than 30,000 tracks online and has more than 1 million tracks available.
