LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2000

Media 100 Inc. (NASDAQ:MDEA), the pioneer of streaming media production tools for the Internet, and Compaq Computer Corp (NYSE:CPQ), today announced a partnership in which the two companies will work closely together to ensure the quality of streaming media production systems through a stringent certification process. As a result of this announcement, Media 100 is certifying the new Compaq Professional Workstations AP550 and SP750 as the latest in a series of highly-qualified, out-of-the-box turnkey streaming media solutions. This agreement sends a strong message of assurance to the industry that every Compaq-based iFinish streaming media production system has been optimized for the high-bandwidth, high-compute power demands of streaming media production.

As part of the certification process, Media 100 conducted a series of rigorous tests using the Compaq Professional Workstations AP550 and SP750 in a streaming media production workflow environment. As a result of the testing process, Media 100 determined that Compaq Workstations are highly qualified solutions that meet the expanding needs of the streaming media marketplace and exceed the requirements of Media 100's testing.

Media 100 has successfully been offering iFinish PowerGrade turnkey solutions on Compaq Workstations for over a year. With this agreement, Media 100 will enhance their offering to include Compaq Professional Workstations AP200 and AP550 with iFinish streaming media tools as entry level and advanced turnkey streaming media solutions via the Media 100 website in the United States and Canada. This offering will also be available in Europe from Media 100's network of European resellers. These affordable, easy-to-use offerings lower the barriers to effectively participate in the streaming media market. http//:www.media100.com

"At Media 100, our overriding goal is to enable anyone with a workstation to become a potential Internet broadcaster," said Mike Savello, director of marketing for Media 100. "Compaq recognizes the impact that streaming media is having on the Internet throughout the world," said Ed Ellett, vice president and GM of Compaq's Workstation Division. "For this reason, we are excited to align our industry-leading Compaq Workstations with the premier market leader in streaming media."

Both Compaq workstations are targeted at providing both consumers and pro-sumers with top-of-the-line streaming media solutions. The Compaq Professional Workstation AP550 is targeted at introducing general consumers to the creation of streaming media - offering an out-of-the-box platform delivering broadcast-quality Internet video and audio.
