Notes of Interest:
Primping and pre-prep for proms were wildly popular on The Lycos 50. In fact, two prom queries made the list, prom dresses (#17) and prom hairstyles (#49). Other search query terms included prom tuxedos but not nearly as popular as prom dresses and hairstyles. The Masters made a huge run rising from nowhere to number nine on The Lycos 50 as the annual golf tournament came to a close. Golf superstar Tiger Woods is still the only golfer who generates much interest online and queries for him were up 15 percent. Aging superstar Jack Nicklaus was up 150 percent, while the winner of The Masters, Vijay Singh, didn't show up at all among the Lycos top 50,000 queries.
Other Notes of Interest:
Tattoos retained its place at number seven, as spring has sprung, and users turn to revealing more flesh. A Lycos 50 search for the most popular tattoos found that in the month of March, the most requested tattoo designs were: Tribal Tattoos (#1); Dragon (#2); Butterfly (#3); Sun (#4); Chinese (#5); Japanese (#6); Celtic (#7); and Flower (#8).
On the Rise:
The Bloodhound Gang, the latest naughty-talking rock band, makes it to The Lycos 50. Their video "Bad Touch" is getting heavy airplay now on MTV. The Bloodhound Gang are the gentleman walking around in big squirrel suits.
Factoid of the Week:
The rise of Gundam Wing (#12), makes a total of six cartoons on The Lycos 50. Pokemon, Dragonball, Sailor Moon, South Park and the Simpsons, round out the list.
