The results of an independent comparative study of Throughput Speed Performance and Cost-per-Print of three notable wide-format color inkjet printers were announced by the SpencerLab Digital Color Laboratory, a division of Spencer & Associates Publishing, Ltd. The study compared the latest wide-format inkjet printers from Hewlett-Packard Company (www.hp.com) with those of Epson America, Inc. (www.epson.com). HP's new DeskJet 1220C was tested and compared with the Epson Stylus Color 1160 as well as the Epson Stylus Photo 1200.
Testing and analysis covered the areas of Throughput Speed Performance at comparable Print Quality modes, and ink Cost-per-Print. Although sponsored by HP, SpencerLab conducted the study independently using test documents selected from the SpencerLab Printer Test Suite, now in Beta, under its own established test and analysis procedures.
The study Final Report is available free in PDF format at http://spencerlab.com/HP1220CvsEpsonFinalRpt.pdf on the World Wide Web. HP has chosen to publish some results of the study on their Web site at http://www.dj1220.com/deskjet1220/product/competitive.asp.
