KENT, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2000
UTILX Corporation (Nasdaq:UTLX) announced that it has signed a contract to inject its patented CableCURE(R) fluid into approximately 120 kilometers of power cable for BNG (BAYERNWERK NETZ GESELLSCHAFT) which services most of the Bavarian regions of Germany. BAYERNWERK is part of the VIAG Group and after the merger of the VIAG and VEBA Groups the new formed utility, E.ON AG, will become the second largest utility group in Germany. The contract is expected to yield revenues of approximately 3 million D-Marks or about $1.5 million US in the current calendar year. CableCURE technology extends the life of aging buried power cables by over 20 years for a fraction of the cost required to replace the cable.
"BNG is currently our largest CableCURE customer," said William M. Weisfield, President and CEO of UTILX Corporation. "BNG has four years of experience with CableCURE technology with over 150 kilometers already treated. Our European CableCURE operations have been expanding at a very rapid pace. Our core customers, such as BNG, have provided us a steady stream of business and a base of operations on the continent which has allowed us to expand into Holland, Austria, Spain, Poland and Italy."
UTILX Corporation provides critical services for the installation and rejuvenation of aged underground infrastructure with its FlowMOLE(R) service and proprietary CableCURE solution in the U.S. and Canada through a network of regional sales and service centers. The Company also provides CableCURE services either directly or through licensees throughout Europe, Asia, and now South America.
