Netscape's Doss, Whittman-Hart's Slattery Assume Top
Management Responsibilities
MimEcom (www.mimecom.com), the pioneer in E-commerce Systems Management (ESM) and the only system s management company focused exclusively on transaction-based, e-commerce web sites, today announced the appointment of two prominent e-business leaders to its top management ranks.
Former Netscape/AOL (NYSE:AOL) executive Bill Doss was named vice president of business development, while Jim Slattery, previously vice president -- recruiting for Whittman Hart, was named chief of people. Slattery was also a member of Whittman-Hart's executive committee.
"Bringing aboard leaders of Jim and Bill's caliber reflects MimEcom's commitment to build the industry's highest quality organization specializing in ESM," said Michael Carrier, MimEcom founder and CEO. "These appointments continue the execution of MimEcom's business plan to create an IT dream team of experienced, world-class professionals that are generally unavailable in this hyper-competitive job market."
Citing the track records of both new officers, Carrier said their contributions to MimEcom's strategic business goals will escalate success for the company's customers and investors. He praised massive headcount and revenue increases spearheaded by Slattery during his tenure with Whittman-Hart and industry-leading strategic alliances forged by Doss during his Netscape career.
Slattery brings extensive recruiting experience to MimEcom, including his oversight role in designing and implementing an internal search function to reduce dependence on outside providers for most recruiting services. As chief of people, he will guide MimEcom's rapidly expanding search for top-flight technical and management personnel.
With only a seven-month history, service demands have already sparked a tremendous surge in headcount for the ESM provider. Launched in September 1999, the company has grown to more than 150 employees with offices in San Francisco, New York, Dallas, Washington, D.C. and Chicago.
Doss will drive business development strategies for MimEcom. As director of Netscape's Global SI Alliances division, Doss recruited, staffed and directed a global organization that managed ongoing relationships for alliances with entities such as global system integrators and management consulting firms. Earlier he managed business development for Kiva Software where he was responsible for building relationships across hardware, software, integration and distribution companies.
"I'm delighted to be joining the MimEcom team," said Doss. "This organization embodies a great opportunity because of its forward focus. No other firm has such a narrow, but deep, concentration on state-of-the-art technology exclusively for e-commerce. MimEcom is truly a company for the future."
Slattery said he was attracted to MimEcom because he saw a unique opportunity to build an industry leader with the finest talent available. "Even in the face of a growing shortage of Information Technology (IT) talent, MimEcom's management is absolutely committed to creating the industry 's ultimate IT environment that will attract the best people in the business," he said. "I'm convinced we'll do it."
"E-commerce is becoming more complex, but the rewards are potentially greater," Carrier added. "We intend to be the leader in our space based on a simple formula for success: the finest people in the industry serving the best brand name clients in e-commerce."
