Medisys Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:SCEP), a pioneer in the design and development of safety needle devices, announced today the signing of an agreement with The Marketing Connexion, LLC for strategic marketing, planning and implementation services.
The Marketing Connexion, based in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, is a healthcare marketing firm that specializes in the market launch of new products and services. Its principals combine more than 40 years of senior-level domestic and international marketing experience with Fortune 50 healthcare companies.
"This agreement secures executive-level marketing talent that will most immediately enhance our capabilities for the upcoming launch and future marketing of the CoverTip(TM) Hypodermic Safety Syringe in the $6-billion syringe market in an expeditious and efficient manner," noted Kerry Frey, Medisys President and COO. "The expertise of The Marketing Connexion in both traditional and new non-traditional marketing techniques for healthcare products will be highly valuable in the next phase of Medisys' growth," added Mr. Frey.
Michael Thomas, Managing Partner of The Marketing Connexion, stated, "We think Medisys is poised for exciting progress with CoverTip(TM) and its other innovative safety-focused products. We anticipate that the automatic and passive safety features of CoverTip(TM) will be well received by healthcare workers who are sensitive to cost factors and resistant to changes in technique as documented by industry studies. Healthcare administrators will also like CoverTip(TM) for what it can do to increase safety and ultimately lower operating and liability costs."
The CoverTip(TM) safety syringe has superior safety and cost features, which will protect healthcare workers from needlestick exposure, both during the drug delivery process and disposal of the used syringe. The needle tip is automatically sheathed and locked in place prior to removal from the patient's skin. One-handed usage is an additional safety feature. In unique contrast to other safety syringes, the CoverTip(TM) safety syringe requires no costly instruction because it is operated no differently than standard non-safety syringes. An additional benefit is lower production costs resulting from the safety syringe's comparatively simple design. The Company received 510(k) clearance in 1998 from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market CoverTip(TM).
Medisys Technologies, Inc. has 19 U.S. patents covering medical safety devices and other products. In addition to the CoverTip(TM) hypodermic syringe, the Medisys portfolio of patented safety devices includes: BXDraw(TM), a fine needle biopsy/aspiration safety syringe; SofDraw(TM), a blood and fluid collection safety syringe; and MultiDraw(TM), a needleless multiple vacuum vial blood collection safety device. The Company has filed, or is filing, patent applications for new safety designs in blood collection, capillary blood testing, and tissue excision cutting needles. In total, the Company has 19 patent applications pending for its medical devices in both the U.S. and overseas.
