PTC's Global Services provides implementation team to
streamline design process
PTC (NASDAQ:PMTC) today announced it received multiple orders for software and services from the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) for more than $1.6 million. The software was shipped to LLNL during PTC's second fiscal quarter (ended April 1, 2000) and services will be provided over a period of time ending in PTC's fourth fiscal quarter (ended September 30, 2000).
LLNL, a customer of PTC since 1991, uses PTC i-Series flexible engineering solutions for many projects. In 1995, Pro/ENGINEER was selected for the National Ignition Facility (NIF) project. LLNL uses Pro/ENGINEER to design, test, and manufacture components for NIF, a billion-dollar laser facility the size of a football stadium under construction at LLNL in Livermore, California. With approximately 500,000 parts, NIF represents an impressive engineering endeavor.
PTC Global Services will provide implementation services to the NIF project to streamline their design processes. The PTC implementation team will identify opportunities for simplification, data reuse, and automation.
"The NIF facility introduces unique execution dynamics into what is primarily a DOE research and development laboratory," said Rob Gremley, senior vice president, PTC Global Services. "PTC's Global Services are dedicated and experienced in mentoring industry leaders, like LLNL. We are pleased LLNL has selected PTC Global Services to provide guidance on accelerating delivery and improving quality on this flagship DOE program."
