In honor of the April 21 enactment of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, Disney Online, the unit of GO.com (NYSE:GO) that produces the No. 1 Web site for kids and families (www.Disney.com), has reignited efforts to encourage awareness on Doug's Internet Safety Web Page.
"The creative opportunities that the Internet offers our children are astounding," said Ken Goldstein, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Online. "Nevertheless, we at Disney believe that before these opportunities can be fully enjoyed, a set of fundamental safety rules for `safe surfing' must be evangelized and understood by everyone who touches the Internet."
Located inside the Zeether at Disney.com, Doug's Internet Safety Web Page provides kids and families with instructive tools to ensure the most positive online surfing experiences. Doug's Internet Safety Web Page was designed in conjunction with "Doug's Adventures Online," a special episode of the Emmy Award(R)-nominated series in the "Disney's One Saturday Morning" programming block on ABC.
Visitors to this unique Web site will be able to access a set of Internet safety guidelines, which Doug encourages his online friends to adopt each time they surf the World Wide Web. These lessons are designed for families to review together. Additionally, an Internet safety quiz hosted by Doug's mother provides families with a resource to improve their safety smarts.
Audiences can view an encore TV broadcast of "Doug's Adventures Online" on Saturday, April 22. This informative episode chronicles Doug Funnie's journey as he learns the importance of safe surfing and, in turn, embraces the lessons that he shares with kids and families on his Internet Safety Web Page.
Produced by Jumbo Pictures Inc. in association with Walt Disney Television Animation and created by Jim Jinkins, "Disney's Doug" airs Saturdays on ABC at 8:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT within the "Disney's One Saturday Morning" block. For more information, visit the Web site located in the Zeether at www.Disney.com.
