ProFile Manager(R) and NetSign(R) GT Are
Two Key Products Used For B2B E-Commerce
Litronic Inc. (Nasdaq:LTNX), a leading provider of public key infrastructure (PKI)-based Internet security solutions, Tuesday announced it will provide smart card issuance and electronic identity verification to companies doing business on the global internetwork of trust created by Identrus, the world's leading provider of identity trust for business-to-business Internet commerce.
Litronic's ProFile Manager, a management tool for deployment of smart card and public key infrastructure (PKI) security solutions, and NetSign GT (Global Trust), a client-side software package that enables smart card-based digital signatures, will enable Identrus trading partners to transact business over the Internet.
"Litronic's range of technology gives trading partners an important ingredient for success in business-to-business commerce on the Internet -- deployment and identity verification," said Kristin Kupres, Identrus' chief operating and technology officer.
"We enthusiastically welcome Litronic as an innovative solution provider deploying secure e-commerce applications on our open, global identity trust infrastructure."
ProFile Manager provides issuance and lifecycle management for smart cards by centralizing deployment control and content for every user's digital credentials. It streamlines policy profiling for certificates, credentials, PIN (personal identification number) rules, key generation and key backup and recovery, and allows customization to organizations by offering personalization of smart cards. ProFile Manager offers a simple, open solution for organizations issuing smart cards and PKI technology company-wide.
Litronic's NetSign GT brings the power and simplicity of smart cards to a wide variety of Web-based transactions. NetSign GT, which implements the Identrus specifications for requesting real-time digital signatures, enables leading B2B applications to incorporate smart cards. It enhances security by integrating universal digital certificates with smart cards for strong authentication and transaction signing.
Specifically developed to meet Identrus requirements, NetSign GT is designed with digital signatures on the browser, providing identity verification over the Web and strong non-repudiation required for financial institutions working with Identrus.
"Identrus is a leader in the development of interoperable security standards for organizations transacting over the Internet and acknowledges that PKI-based digital signatures are the most robust method for identity verification," said Kris Shah, president and CEO of Litronic Inc.
"Litronic's PKI solutions support interoperability with secure, yet easily deployable technology for business requiring strong authentication of users."
Identrus, founded in April 1999 by eight of the world's largest global financial institutions, is creating a worldwide network of trusted financial institutions to remove the final obstacle to business-to-business e-commerce: trust in a trading partner's identity. To supply this trust, Identrus financial institutions certify their corporate customers as trading partners on the Internet.
These trading partners use the Identrus infrastructure to conclusively identify one another through their financial institutions, ensure their communications are secure, and create an indisputable record of their transactions. With these capabilities, they can conduct Internet business with confidence, opening new markets around the world and lowering transaction costs. The infrastructure is open to financial institutions, their corporate customers, solution providers and security vendors around the world.
