BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 2000
Media Access Internet Solutions, Inc., a Bellevue-based Web design and development company, today announced that it has deployed a shared database service based on technology from Oracle and Sun Microsystems.
This new database platform will assist Media Access in building state-of-the-art Web solutions for electronic commerce.
"Our client's projects have grown dramatically in size and complexity over the last twelve months," said Richard D. Huff, CEO. "Web-friendly companies need an industrial-strength database behind their sites if they want to succeed online. Our new Oracle database service provides rock-solid reliability and very high performance. This is just the tool our clients need to be more competitive on the Internet."
Oracle is the second-largest software company in the world. Oracle software is used by 93% of the public dot-com companies in the United States, and all ten of the world's biggest Web sites use Oracle.
Oracle's capabilities come at a price. A basic Oracle installation will typically cost $50,000 in hardware and software alone. Installation and ongoing administration costs can easily double that cost. Alternatively, Media Access' new Oracle service allows shared access to a high-performance Oracle installation, enabling medium-sized businesses to make use of Oracle for as little as $500 a month.
"Oracle is, hands-down, the best database technology on the market," said Huff. "Our new Oracle service is an important and logical step in enabling our customers to compete and win on the Web. Working in tandem with our streaming media, secure socket layer and high-speed Web hosting services, our new Oracle database ensures that we have a full suite of hosting services available to meet our clients' needs."
