SkyStream Networks, a provider of broadcast Internet equipment, today announced the addition of Liam Strong, CEO of MCI WorldCom International, and Adam Grosser, president of Subscriber Networks for Excite@Home, to its board of directors. Strong and Grosser bring valuable technical expertise, insight and senior-level experience to the board.

Grosser and Strong join four current board members that include Geoff Yang, partner, Institutional Venture Partners; Wendell "Van" Van Auken, general partner, Mayfield Fund; Jim Olson, president and CEO, SkyStream Networks; and Jim Ramo, chief executive officer of Geocast Network Systems.

As CEO of MCI WorldCom International, Strong is responsible for more than $1.5 billion in voice, data and Internet revenues throughout Europe and Asia. During Strong's tenure, the MCI WorldCom team has built European and Asian networks from 6 to 16 countries. Prior to joining MCI WorldCom in 1997, Liam served as CEO of Sears plc (Europe) where he was responsible for more than $3.0 billion in apparel revenues sold through department stores, mail order and specialty outlets.

As president, Subscriber Networks for Excite@Home, Grosser oversees residential broadband sales and marketing; commercial access, hosting and e-commerce solutions; company-wide customer care; and an integrated engineering, network and product operations team. This represents over 1600 employees. Prior to joining Excite@Home in 1997, he was the president and CEO of Catapult Entertainment, which was acquired by Mpath Interactive in 1996. Prior to Catapult, he was the senior vice president of new media at Sony Pictures.

Today, SkyStream also announced the appointment of Valerie Wilson to vice president of business development. She is responsible for driving the company's business development initiatives and alliances that are key to SkyStream's growth and strategic positioning in the Broadcast Internet. Wilson previously served as vice president of communications investment banking at FleetBoston Robertson Stephens. While at Robertson Stephens, she was instrumental in the execution of many public equity and merger and acquisition transactions for Internet infrastructure and software companies, including Alteon WebSystems, Avanex Corporation, Efficient Networks, Extreme Networks, F5 Networks, Juniper Networks, Redback Networks and Turnstone Systems.

Also, the appointments of Bethany Mayer to director of product marketing and Kate Patterson to director of investor relations were announced today. Mayer joins SkyStream from Cisco Systems where she worked since 1993 in product management, most recently working on the development of Cisco's consumer product strategy. Prior to Cisco, Mayer managed product development for Apple Computers' PowerBook laptop product line. Patterson comes to SkyStream after leading investor relations programs for Informix Corporation and 3Com Corporation.
