EBanner Campaign Achieves Customer Registration Rate of 30 Percent
Outperforming All Previous Initiatives
K2 Design, the e-communications company, has significantly increased registration to Standard & Poor's PersonalWealth (www.personalwealth.com) online financial service using EBanner, BlueStreak.com's rich media-enabled merchandising banner solution.
The campaign, which ran from November 1999 to February 2000 on Hoovers, Multex and 24/7 media sites, employed innovative, rich media-filled, expanding banners that sparked customer interaction. It has achieved a 30 percent rate of registration for PersonalWealth.com, resulting in a cost-per-registration that was 75 percent less than other media. In contrast, a parallel campaign created for PersonalWealth.com by K2 Design on a competitive banner technology achieved a significantly lower customer interaction rate.
The banner invites users to click on a button to find out how to register for free, essential investment tools from PersonalWealth.com. Within seconds, the banner expands to deliver information about S&P's research, real-time quotes, portfolio tracking and analysis services. To sign up, users simply input their name and email address.
"S&P challenged us with the objective of increasing registrants to PersonalWealth.com. At the same time, one of their business goals was to decrease the cost-per-registration," comments Jeff Hinz, K2 Design's Media Director. "We understood that the key to success was to offer the consumer a fast, easy way to register - yet provide enough information to motivate their interest."
K2 Design selected BlueStreak.com rich media solutions for their flexibility and effectiveness. "First, BlueStreak.com's EBanners expand to deliver information and, at the same time, capture user data without pushing the user to another web site. This is critical to developing a trusted and compelling interaction with the customer," notes Gina Borriello, K2 Design's Vice President of Operations. "Second, and perhaps most important to the execution of a successful campaign and our client's return on investment, BlueStreak.com's On-The-Fly system enables us to track banner performance and quickly make real-time edits so the campaign is always optimized in real-time."
Andrew Portnoy, Director of Marketing for Personal Wealth, said: "Attracting and retaining customers in the increasingly competitive world of online finance is a challenge. K2 Design's banner campaign has proven to be an excellent means of attracting new users at highly competitive acquisition costs"
