ViewCast.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:VCST), a leading provider of Internet and networked video solutions, announced today that it will bring its streaming video technology to Linux, the fastest-growing server operating system environment.

According to research firm NetCraft, Inc. ( www.netcraft.com ), 29% of all public Web servers run on Linux, making Linux the most popular operating system for public Web sites.

ViewCast.com will demonstrate a turnkey streaming encoding system based on Linux and the company's own Osprey technology at Spring Internet World (In the RealNetworks Booth, No. 1635) in Los Angeles, April 5-7. The new Linux-based ViewCast encoding station will include RedHat Linux, up to four Osprey-100 capture cards, and RealNetworks encoding tools.

In addition to demonstrating the new Linux-based streaming media solution, ViewCast.com is announcing a formal Linux strategy with plans for Linux support of various products in the company's Osprey product line to be rolled out throughout the year 2000. Effective immediately, the company is offering Linux support for the Osprey-100 capture card, the de facto standard in the streaming market, with driver software available for download from the company's Web site ( ftp://ftp.viewcast.com/pub/OSP-100/linux ). ViewCast.com also plans to release a Linux version of its new Osprey-2000M MPEG capture card for summer 2000.
