LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2000

Company Accelerates the Deployment of World's Largest Content Delivery Network With the Installation of New Content Access Points in

Los Angeles, San Jose, Boston, Amsterdam and Stockholm

Mirror Image Internet, an innovative leader in Internet acceleration services, today announced the expansion of the company's patented Content Access Point(TM) (CAP) network to further increase the speed of Internet content delivery to end-users worldwide.

New CAP centers have been installed in Los Angeles, San Jose, Boston, Amsterdam and Stockholm. Mirror Image Internet is a subsidiary of Xcelera.com (AMEX: XLA).

The company's highly scalable CAPs are capable of delivering a customer's Internet traffic up to ten times faster than traditional traffic flow. The newest Mirror Image CAP centers extend the capabilities of the existing CAPs deployed in London, Frankfurt, St. Louis, MO and Washington, DC. The deployment of the new CAPs marks the completion of the first phase of a six continent 35-region CAP expansion planned for the next nine months.

"Our newest CAPs extend the reach of Mirror Image's already massive and scalable network," said Cos Santullo, CEO, Mirror Image Internet. "There is no other solution with the same capabilities, speed or performance as Mirror Image's patented content distribution technology."

"HP's technology and services play a key role in helping Mirror Image expand its reach worldwide," said Dave Scantling, General Manager, Dot Com Segment, HP e-services solutions. "The performance and reliability of their content distribution network provide ideal capabilities for any customer with mission-critical Internet operations."

Mirror Image CAPs offer e-businesses a scalable and robust architecture for global content distribution. The solution includes Mirror Image's proprietary CAP software and patented technology, Hewlett Packard 9000 Enterprise Servers, mission-critical software and storage systems and Oracle 8i databases. Each CAP also features equipment and software from Sun Microsystems and Cisco. The CAP architecture is designed to deliver Internet content faster than any other method, regardless of location or volume demand.

In addition, each CAP serves all requests for all distributed content and eliminates the need to route requests to other servers in distant locations. The CAPs permit end-to-end traffic control from origin server to CAP to access network, anywhere in the world.

George Gilder, noted technology futurist, endorsed Mirror Image in his February technology report. Gilder stated: "With the Net shifting toward interactive and transactional content -- originating largely in the U.S. but consumed globally -- Mirror Image's solution is becoming a global imperative."

Exodus Communications recently agreed to invest $637.5 million into Mirror Image. The company will offer Mirror Image's content distribution services to its 2,200 customers.

"This expansion of the Mirror Image CAP architecture demonstrates the scalability of Mirror Image's technology," said Beverly Brown, EVP and CMO of Exodus. "Customers using Mirror Image's content distribution services will be able to benefit from a distinctive performance advantage that is not available elsewhere."

About Mirror Image Content Access Points(TM) (CAPs)

The CAP concept is based on the principle that content distribution, content management and Web transactions are best handled from a central network position closer to the users, where the networks of a geographical region converge -- that is, at key Internet exchange points. There, the massive, intelligent CAPs store content and aggregate traffic across networks to deliver up to 75 percent of all Internet traffic for CAP customers - ISPs, content providers and enterprises -- directly into the networks of that region.

Powered by the CAPs, the Mirror Image Internet family of instaDelivery(SM) Internet Services speeds the delivery of high-quality content to end users worldwide. The result is a dramatically faster Internet at a lower cost, enabling ISPs, content providers and enterprises to deliver maximum speed performance, scalability and end-user experience.
