Industry: Information Technology - Records Management Software
Company description: TOWER Software, with headquarters in Reston,
VA, is a subsidiary of TOWER Software Engineering, an Australian
research and development company specializing in the development of
Records Management software. TOWER has demonstrated steady profitable
growth since it commenced full time operation in 1985. A conservative
approach to management, together with quality products, has enabled
TOWER to return profits for each of the last 14 years of operation.
TOWER received accreditation under AS3902 (ISO90002) (Quality
Systems for Production and Installation) in May 1994. TOWER
successfully upgraded this accreditation to AS9001 (ISO9001) (Quality
Systems for Design, Production, Installation and Servicing) in May
1995.
The TRIM Records Management System was certified against the
Department of Defense Electronic Records Standard 5015.2 in February
1997. The Department of Defense finalized the Design Criteria Standard
for Electronic Records Management Software Applications in November
1997. The standard sets forth mandatory baseline functional
requirements for records management application software; defines
required system interfaces and search criteria to be supported by the
Records Management Applications and describes the minimum records
management requirements that must be met, based on current National
Archives and Records Administration (NARA) regulations. The Department
requires all Defense agencies to adopt a certified Records Management
Application by November 1999.
The TRIM Records Management System is a commercial-off-the-shelf
(COTS) software product that has been specifically developed to manage
both paper and electronic records from creation through destruction.
The TRIM product is ODMA Compliant and is seamlessly integrated with
most desktop applications and may be used to manage word processing,
spreadsheet, computer assisted drawing, e-mail, image, video and sound
records.
TRIM is unique because it is the first non-paired product to
successfully combine full electronic document management system (EDMS)
functionality with a records management discipline.
The TRIM System has over a thousand installations implemented in
over 30 countries.
