MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 10, 2000
Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE:R), a leader in logistics and transportation management solutions worldwide, announced it has been named the number-one third-party logistics (3PL) provider for the third consecutive year in the annual Inbound Logistics' "Top Ten Excellence Survey."
For 20 years, Inbound Logistics has been among the key trade publications of the logistics and transportation industries. Inbound Logistics' Top 10 3PL Excellence survey queries industry leaders gathering in-depth information of companies' outsourced logistics experience to determine which 3PLs are achieving excellence in customer service. The central survey question was, "Name three 3PL companies you think do the best job."
The areas of excellence that Ryder was recognized for include integrated logistics, supply chain management, drivers, fleet acquisition, direct-to-store, process reengineering and dedicated contract carriage.
According to the Inbound Logistics' survey results, Ryder captured the number-one slot in 3PL excellence, "far outstripping the votes received by any other 3PL." Ryder was also named as having the "maximum brand recognition."
One of the survey respondents, Ken Hendrix of Abbott Labs, commented, "Ryder has become the standard bearer for the logistics services industry."
Upon notification of the survey results, M. Anthony Burns, Ryder's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "We are honored to be recognized once again as the leading 3PL in the industry. Ryder prides itself on continuing to deliver strong product offerings and a superior workforce to enhance its client-service capabilities. We are grateful to Inbound Logistics, our clients and peers for this outstanding honor."
