FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--Aug. 15, 2000--Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS) today announced its iBusiness Application Service Provider (ASP) Program has reached a major milestone of over 100 members in less than 12 months, cementing the company's position as a chief enabler of the ASP movement. The latest addition of 19 ASPs not only put program membership to 105, but also broadened its geographic and market reach to encompass the Middle East and Latin America, as well as consumer-oriented service providers. The Citrix iBusiness ASP program currently spans 20 countries and includes major telecommunications companies, software companies, vertical-market ASPs, portal providers and application infrastructure providers (AIPs).
Launched in September 1999, the Citrix iBusiness ASP Program gives participants access to Citrix application server software on a pay-as-you-go basis, as well as joint marketing and sales opportunities, and 24X7 support services.
"Many of the benefits associated with the ASP model are being realized with the help of enabling programs that provide ASPs with flexible options for building their businesses," said Clare Gillan, group vice president, Applications Research, IDC. "Citrix has had the foresight to recognize that ASPs need support programs to help form, grow, and operate businesses in a fashion that meets market demand. Citrix has asserted itself as a key partner to many in the delivery of application services."
Citrix's dedication is demonstrated in a recent report dated June 13, 2000 by Giga Information Group: "The fact that Citrix made inroads with ASPs early in the game and has continued to market its technology toward them aggressively has put the Fort Lauderdale-based firm at the forefront of the ASP enabler market."
"The large number of new members we've welcomed to our program during this short period reflects the rapid growth of the ASP model and its adoption across the world," said Chris Phoenix, vice president and general manager, Citrix iBusiness. "Now that we've established a strong ASP channel, we are intensifying efforts to help our members succeed by raising awareness, driving demand for ASP services and expanding market size and scope. We intend to leverage the tremendous experience we gained building the application serving market with our reseller channel to do the same in the ASP space."
Robert Lavery, vice president of strategic alliances, ACCPAC International, Inc. said, "For too long, SMEs have been put off by a confusing array of conflicting, costly and uncertain options for conducting business over the Internet. By combining Citrix's powerful server technology with Computer Associates' ASP infrastructure, we're providing highly flexible, adaptable and secure alternatives for virtually any business to buy and sell on the Web."
Citrix application server software enables ASPs to centralize the installation, deployment and administration of applications on their servers, and deliver application services with high predictability, speed and security across any network connection to users on virtually any platform and/or client device. A unique advantage of Citrix application server software is its ability to deliver the full richness and interactivity of Windows(R), UNIX(R) and Java(TM) applications over the Web to a single application portal in a thin, manageable manner.
