PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2000
Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) today introduced HP Business Inkjet 2200/2250 printers, designed to combine speed, exceptional print quality, and networking capabilities in a strong, cost-efficient platform that supports the needs of workgroups and power users in business environments.
HP Business Inkjet 2200/2250 printers set a new standard as HP's fastest, mid-volume color printer for small workgroup environments. The new printers have print speeds of 15 pages-per-minute (ppm) black and more than 14 ppm color, and are the first to include the innovative HP high-performance architecture with dual 96MHz processors. Other features that fit perfectly in small- to medium-sized workgroups include a high-capacity input tray, a duty cycle of up to 10,000 pages per month, expandable memory up to 88MB, and robust network capabilities.
"Combining robust networking, affordable color and business-focused support, HP Business Inkjet printers are a new class of printers that will reinforce HP's color leadership in the office," said Han-Tian Phua, general manager of HP's Business Printing Division.
High-performance, Low-cost, Modular Ink-delivery System
All HP Business Inkjet 2200/2250 printers use the latest generation HP modular ink-delivery system, adapted from HP DesignJet large-format professional graphics printers, and was first introduced in desktop printers over two years ago with the HP 2000C and 2500C Professional Series color printers. The technology features separate printheads and ink cartridges for the four inks used by the printers.
The modular design saves operating costs and improves efficiency because individual ink cartridges and printheads can be replaced as needed. With HP high-capacity ink cartridges, up to 1,750 pages in black or color can be printed before replacing a single cartridge, resulting in a cost per page of 2.2 cents for black text and 8.4 cents for color prints. The printers also feature HP PhotoREt III color layering and ColorSmart III technologies for true-to-life photo images on any type of paper.
HP Business Inkjet 2200/2250 printheads use smart chips to send alerts before they need to be replaced and automatically perform self-alignment. The printheads are designed to last 1.5 years, or 16,000 pages for the black printhead and 24,000 pages for the color printheads.
Networked Power
HP Business Inkjet printers are designed with the needs of the power user and IS manager in mind. The top-of-the-line HP Business Inkjet 2250TN ships with the HP JetDirect 600N EIO internal print-server card with support for all major networking protocols and operating environments, while the HP Business Inkjet 2200 and 2250 printers can be upgraded easily with the internal print server. Automatic protocol switching is supported for printing in mixed system environments.
HP Web JetAdmin network peripheral-management software enables remote printer installation, configuration, monitoring and maintenance. HPA, PCL 5C and Postscript Level 2 emulation printer languages are all supported by the new products.
