Intel Developer Forum Fall 2000
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 22, 2000
Sican introduces its USB 2.0 Function DesignObject(R), a synthesizable VHDL or Verilog HDL soft core, at the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) pavilion during the Intel Developer Forum, Fall 2000 Aug. 21-24, 2000 in San Jose.
Sican offers a complete USB 2.0 solution with hardware descriptions, Windows 2000 device driver, ARM(R) firmware, and an evaluation board to demonstrate highspeed functionality. It performs all USB functions for a peripheral device in a customer-specific ASIC and is configurable to customer applications. For a high level of flexibility, the application microcontroller runs all configurable protocol functions.
As an ARM approved design center, Sican implemented the ARM AMBA(TM) AHB slave interface to the USB 2.0 Function DesignObject. However, the DesignObject may also be adapted to virtually any other on-chip bus. Optionally, an ARM AHB master interface is provided, allowing the customer to choose the system performance that best suits his needs.
Other features include the standard DMA controller to speed up the AHB microcontroller interface and an optional FIFO interface to the application. An internal USB controller handles the higher USB protocol. The USB 2.0 DesignObject supports the de-facto standard UTMI (USB 2.0 Transceiver Macrocell Interface) interface between PHY and LINK. The registers are arranged to ease software programming and interrupt handling.
"Of all the vendors we evaluated for USB 1.1, Sican offered the most complete solution and design support," said Horst G. Sandfort, president & CEO of Intellon Corp. in Ocala, Fla. "I have known and been working with Sican successfully for many years. They have been able to provide one-stop-shop solutions and customization to our requirements. Currently, we are considering an upgrade to Sican's USB 2.0 DesignObject. Because of Sican's proven track record in providing innovative hardware solutions and design excellence, Sican will be on top of our list of IP core providers."
Deliverables for Sican's USB 2.0 Function DesignObject include VHDL or Verilog source code, netlist, complete testbench and a user manual. Technical support is available via email, telephone, or on-site at the customer's location. A USB 2.0 host is on the roadmap for Q2/01.
