Media Metrix Releases U.S. Top 50 Web and Digital Media Properties for July 2000 and Reveals Top-Gaining Web Categories

Napster breaks into the Media Metrix Top 50 for the first time,
coinciding with the music-sharing service's storm of publicity
Media Metrix, Inc. (NASDAQ: MMXI), the leader and pioneer in Internet and Digital Media measurement worldwide, today released the top 50 Web and Digital Media properties for June 2000. Media Metrix also released, for the first time, the top Web categories according to their month-over-month percent-increase in unique visitors.
Newcomers to the Top 50
In addition to Napster, eFront Media, a new company with a diverse, international network of content sites, broke into the Media Metrix Top 50 for the first time at number 18 with 12,417,000 unique visitors. Meanwhile, Passthison.com, an entertainment site which relies on customer-referral marketing and was the Media Metrix Top Newcomer for the first half of year 2000, rose from number 48 in June 2000 with 4,926,000 unique visitors to number 38 in July with 6,733,000 unique visitors. Priceline.com, which ranked 45th in June with 5,147,000 unique visitors, jumped 8 places in July to number 37 with 6,815,000 unique visitors.
