Combined Expertise in Web-based Clinical Workflow Solutions,
Digital Business Transformation to Enhance Medical Care and
Communications Throughout the Healthcare System
Global Telemedix, Inc., an industry-leading eHealthcare application service provider (ASP) for Web-based clinical connectivity, and Superior Consultant Holdings Corporation (Nasdaq:SUPC), provider of Digital Business Transformation(TM) services to the healthcare industry, today announced a strategic alliance to deliver the next generation of eHealthcare services.
This agreement combines Global Telemedix's TeleConsult(R) application, a first-to-market ASP model for real-time consultation and collaboration among physicians, with Superior Consultant's expertise in connecting online technology to healthcare's traditional business and clinical processes. Together, the two leaders will provide patients, physicians and healthcare organizations with technology and tools to improve medical care, enhance communications, gain workflow efficiencies, and increase return on investments. Superior's integrated solution offering will combine TeleConsult into its consulting services and public key infrastructure (PKI) with the security and confidentiality requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to create an end-to-end operating advantage for its clients.
TeleConsult also will be featured at Superior Consultant's Solution Center in Alpharetta, GA, a showcase for advanced technologies, where clients will be able to experience TeleConsult's seamless integration with other leading healthcare technologies. With today's announcement, Global Telemedix joins Superior's elite team of approximately 20 technology and solution partners focused on building solutions designed for rapid deployment and ROI.
"This partnership provides a valuable new distribution channel for TeleConsult and will rapidly accelerate market adoption of our care delivery workflow solutions. We look forward to leveraging Superior Consultant's recognized Digital Transformation Services, domain expertise across medical specialties and strong relationships with leading healthcare organizations across the nation," said William S. Kazman, Founder, President and CEO of Global Telemedix. "Global Telemedix is leading the next wave in eHealthcare solutions - using the Internet to enhance and extend patient care, improve the quality and efficiency of physicians' processes and enable high-value transactions to create revenue for medical providers."
"We are excited about this alliance because it enables us to provide our clients with more comprehensive eHealthcare solutions. By combining the capabilities of TeleConsult with Superior's clinical expertise, connectivity and digital trust services, we are able to construct a unique solution which complements our existing Provider Interaction solution offerings in bringing speed to value," said Superior Consultant Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Richard D. Helppie. "Working with Global Telemedix, Superior will deliver the digital solutions to enable the secure communications and transactions that will improve healthcare's business performance."
The ASP delivery model for TeleConsult provides a rapidly scalable platform on the Web for confidential and secure collaboration and consultation among physicians and consulting specialists in disparate locations, using complex clinical multimedia images, such as echo ultrasounds, CTs, MRIs, and X-Rays. Physicians, group practices and IDNs benefit by having secure access to valuable clinical data anytime, anywhere on the Web, while improving the return-on-investment on clinical diagnostic equipment and consulting specialists.
Patients benefit by having rapid and greatly expanded access to expert medical opinions and consultative care, regardless of location. TeleConsult is currently undergoing beta testing at eight leading U.S. medical institutions, including Massachusetts General Hospital, the University of Chicago Medical Center and the University of Michigan Health System.
Global Telemedix, founded by Mr. Kazman in 1995, recently completed a $5 million second round of venture capital funding from Egan-Managed Capital, Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation, Kestrel Venture Management and the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation (MTDC). The funding will support expanded sales, marketing and business development initiatives for continuation of an aggressive national expansion of TeleConsult.
