GBI Capital Management Corp. (ASE: GBC) today announced that its main operating subsidiary, GBI Capital Partners ("GBI"), participated and placed first in the Third Annual David Cone Charity Softball Tournament in Central Park on August 21. This is the second consecutive year that Bethpage-based GBI participated in the tournament, which benefits several charities including Baseball Assistance Team, the Central Park Conservancy, the City Parks Foundation, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease) Association (ALSA), the Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and St. Jude Children's Research Center.

"David Cone's tournament combines two great American traditions: baseball, and giving something back to the community. We look forward to the opportunity to play ball for charity again next year, and are honored to be a part of David Cone's efforts to raise money for these worthy causes," said Richard J. Rosenstock, President of GBI Capital Partners. GBI became involved with David Cone's fundraising efforts when it and its employees were the #1 fundraiser in the ALSA Strike Out Lou Gerhig's Disease campaign in 1997. Since then, it has remained involved with raising money for ALSA, whose goal is to fund ALS research and improve the lives of ALS patients. Currently, there is no cure for the fatal disease.
