CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 2000

GeePS.com Inc., the first location-sensitive Wireless Applications Service Provider (WASP) focused on brick-and-mortar merchants and malls today announced it has signed Liberty USA - a regional wholesaler in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia - as a major wholesale customer.

Liberty USA accounts will become one of the first independent brick-and-mortar retailers to embrace mobile commerce technologies as the company begins sending wireless message to consumers (who use mobile internet devices such as phones, PDAs and pagers) on behalf of their brick-and-mortar accounts.

Liberty USA supplies approximately 1,500 stores in the four state region, including CoGo's, the area's largest convenience store chain with 74 locations. The company is also a regional Internet Service Provider (ISP) through a subsidiary, Libcom.com, and also functions as an AT&T mobile dealer.

As part of the agreement, Liberty USA will negotiate with manufacturers to sponsor special deals for its retailers who are signed to the GeePS "Go Power Shopping" (GPS) program. Liberty USA will then promote these specials to consumers using GeePS technology. Liberty USA's brick-and-mortar clients will receive GeePS advertising for specials generated by Liberty USA. "We are pleased to work with GeePS on this innovative marketing communications system. We believe we will add value to our merchant customers and look for GeePS to drive additional traffic and increase inventory productivity for all our store customers," said Liberty USA Chairman and CEO, Gary McGuirk. "We are eager to explore new technologies which help our customers achieve higher productivity and improved customer relationships. GeePS is a very attractive tool for brick-and-mortar retailers."

Liberty USA retailers' messages, special offers, and information will be delivered to consumers' cell phones and PDAs on a pull/opt-in basis only. Upon receipt of the promotions, consumers will enter the actual stores, and make a purchase based on a special deal offered only to them. Consumers will not receive unwanted messages, nor will their information be sold to third parties.

"Liberty USA is a very progressive wholesaler, and their brick-and-mortar customers will now have the competitive edge of being among the first in the U.S. to deploy location-sensitive wireless technologies to deliver specially targeted promotional messages, said GeePS CEO Andy Goren. "GeePS technology fits well with Liberty USA's leading edge marketing and services."

As more consumers begin embracing new wireless devices, GeePS provides an end-to-end mobile commerce solution for both merchants and consumers. Shoppers receive requested, personalized wireless promotional messages and head for the store where they can then complete the sales transaction with a secure wireless payment through their Internet-enabled mobile devices.
