DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2000
Bynari Inc. today announced the availability of its TradeServer(R) product for Sun Microsystems' Solaris (Nasdaq:SUNW), SCO's UnixWare (Nasdaq:SCOC), and variants of BSD.
TradeServer joins Bynari's lineup of mail products for Linux and UNIX workstations. The new additions share the same programming code as the Linux versions. TradeServer provides cost savings to organizations by using Internet protocols which do not require Client Access Licenses.
Bynari designed its client line to unify enterprises using diverse platforms such as Linux, Sun's Solaris, HP UX, IBM's AIX and Microsoft NT(r).
TradeServer competes with Microsoft Exchange(R), HP OpenMail and Lotus Domino through interoperability standards of the Internet. Bynari's principals see its product line moving Linux another step closer to challenging Windows for the Corporate Desktop.
"TradeServer enables companies to enjoy the advantages of enterprise messaging and collaboration under the Open Source model used by Linux," says CEO Tom Adelstein. "It reduces both hardware and software expenses because it works on older processors with less memory and hard drive space. It also works with different computer systems found in most companies."
Another Bynari product, TradeXCH, can give UNIX and Linux users access to Microsoft Exchange(r) services. TradeXCH allows those users to access the global address book, calendars and various email protocols previously open to Windows clients only.
Bynari bundles TradeServer with an Open Source client which can be compiled on any UNIX, Linux, Windows or Macintosh workstation. Bynari includes the client in the Server's $600 price. The Client may be used freely.
Bynari has opened its product line to resellers and consultants. The company provides toll free phone support, training, certification, lead generation and pricing breaks for software distributors, VARs, ISP/ASPs and Consulting firms. Bynari encourages resellers and consultants to visit the Bynari Website for further information.
Bynari developed their Open Source TradeClient at VA Linux's (Nasdaq:LNUX) Sourceforge.net where Linux developers have joined together to create the largest known Open Standards laboratory.
