NEW YORK & BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2000

Just in time for "back-to-school", tutor.com (www.tutor.com), the premiere enabler of online learning communities, announces a partnership with Houghton Mifflin Company's College Division, a leading publisher of college instructional materials, to create a tutor network on the Houghton Mifflin Accounting site (college.hmco.com/accounting).

The co-branding agreement will also provide students who purchase select Houghton Mifflin Accounting textbooks access to free tutoring from an accredited accounting tutor on the Houghton Mifflin site.

"Houghton Mifflin has a long tradition of providing the highest quality educational materials for students. By making our tutors available through the Houghton Mifflin site, and marketing our online tutoring services through company's textbooks, we can offer our immediate online instruction to students when they need it most - while they are studying or doing their homework," says George Cigale, CEO of tutor.com.

The agreement with Houghton Mifflin is designed to make tutor.com's database of certified accounting tutors available to Houghton Mifflin's customers through the seamless Houghton Mifflin Tutor Network, powered by tutor.com. Within this co-branded environment, Houghton Mifflin users can find a tutor and engage in an online tutoring session. Starting this fall, free tutoring will be available to users of Houghton Mifflin's select Accounting textbooks every day from 8:00pm to 11:00pm EST. The Houghton Mifflin online classroom powered by tutor.com will incorporate Houghton Mifflin content.

"The alliance with tutor.com is an excellent opportunity for us to enhance and support our textbook offerings with interactive learning tools that are aligned with our course materials. By utilizing tutor.com's online classroom, we can help deliver important resources to increase student achievement," said Charles Hartford, Vice President and Publisher for Accounting, Houghton Mifflin College Division.
