CIVISnet's SchoolExtra(TM) to Provide the Tools for

Better Communication and Fundraising

CIVISnet, a school-focused technology company based in Minneapolis, announced today that it will provide its SchoolExtra(TM) service to Bloomington Kennedy High School. SchoolExtra(TM) will enable the school to build a Web-based community to bring together students, teachers, parents, and administrators.

"This is an exciting partnership with tremendous potential. It's a giant step toward bringing our school community together - something that we've been working hard to do," says Ed Donahue, principal of Bloomington Kennedy High School. "As a school in a large district, it was important that we find the right tool to meet our needs. Choosing SchoolExtra(TM) has enabled us to set an aggressive timeline for implementation, and having an on-site technology team will help us meet our goals and ensure that we use the site to its full potential."

CIVISnet's SchoolExtra(TM) includes easy-to-use Web self-publishing tools and the necessary consultation and support to enable schools to:

-- create an easy-to-access Internet connection between teachers,

students, administrators, and parents that is accessible from

home, school, the office, or anywhere with Internet access;

-- develop an effective communication channel to share local,

school-specific content; and

-- build a school e-store from which a portion of proceeds are

directed back to the school.

The SchoolExtra(TM) service is available to schools for little or no up-front investment.

Kennedy school leaders have already met to establish an implementation plan and to discuss how best to encourage participation from the school community. A CIVISnet technology team will be dedicated to the school to ensure the site's success during implementation and throughout its first few years.

"Bloomington Kennedy is one of the largest high schools in the state, and utilizing SchoolExtra(TM) will enable the Kennedy community to come together in an effective, efficient way," says Jim Legus, CIVISnet's president and CEO. "Parents and teachers will be able to communicate more easily, students will be able to learn about the Internet and get more involved in their activities and classes, and every member of the school community will be able to support the school by shopping at its e-store."

Other Twin Cities-area schools using SchoolExtra(TM) include Eagan High School (www.schoolextra.com/eaganhs) and Saint Thomas Academy. The fourteen schools that make up the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage school district have signed on and will roll out this fall.
