FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 2000
The South Florida Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) will hold an afternoon seminar on Virtual Private Networks (VPN's) on August 10th in Fort Lauderdale. VPN's allow an organization to take advantage of the Internet's cost savings while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information. The seminar runs from 3 to 6 PM and reservations are required.
The featured speaker for the seminar is Eric Henriksen, Senior Engineering Manager for Red Creek Communications. He will discuss the landscape of the evolving VPN marketplace, provide an overview of the IPSEC standard, and discuss Red Creek's products.
A round table discussion on VPN's will follow. Many of our members are currently using VPN's or have experience with a variety of VPN's. This round table discussion provides candid reviews of what works and what doesn't from the voices of experience.
Dale Peterson, President of South Florida Chapter said, "Attending ISSA meetings is an excellent way for CIO's and Security Professionals to learn the latest information in this important and fast changing field. Since the membership is limited to people in the security field, the caliber of the presentations, case studies, and round table discussions is extremely high."
The South Florida Chapter began meeting in May as an ISSA trial chapter and received official chapter status in July. Chapter members come from some of the largest companies in South Florida as well as leading security product and service providers.
ISSA meetings are an excellent way to train for the Certified Information System Security Professionals (CISSP) exam, and CISSPs receive continuing professional education (CPE) credits for attending the meetings. August's meeting is worth 3 CPE credits.
