PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 2000--Notice is hereby
given that a class action lawsuit was filed on August 9, 2000, in the
United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania,
on behalf of all persons and entities who purchased or otherwise
acquired the common stock of Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products, N.V.
(NASDAQ: LHSP)( "Lernout" or the "Company"), between December 28, 1999
and August 7, 2000, inclusive (the "Class Period").
The complaint charges Lernout and Gaston Bastiaens, Chief
Executive Officer and President with violations of Sections 10(b) and
20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 10b-5
promulgated thereunder. Specifically, the complaint alleges that
:Lernout issued materially false and misleading statements regarding
its financial conditions and inflating its reported revenues,
particularly the revenues purportedly generated from its Korean
business.
Additionally, Lernout issued materially false and misleading
statements regarding its financial statements for the quarters ended
December 31, 1999 and March 31, 2000 and June 30, 2000. These
representations were materially false and misleading when made because
Lernout employed improper accounting practices which caused its
reported financial statements not to be in conformity with GAAP and
artificially inflated the Company's reported operating results.
Plaintiffs seek to recover damages on behalf of Class members and,
are represented by the law firm of Law Offices Bernard M. Gross, P.C.
having significant experience and expertise in prosecuting class
actions.
If you are a member of the Class described above, you may, not
later than October 9, 2000, move the Court to serve as lead plaintiff
of the Class, if you so choose. In order to serve as lead plaintiff,
however, you must meet certain legal requirements. If you wish to
discuss this action or have any questions concerning this Notice or
rights or interests with respect to these matters, PLEASE CONTACT:
