MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 2000
LIFE TIME FITNESS, together with Renaissance Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ:REGI), a leader in business and technology consulting, today announced the completion and first successful deployment of a web-based 100% Java Member Management/POS System. The system uses industry standard security and n-tiered architecture to achieve scalability and ease-of-use goals. The project involved replacing a legacy system with over five million rows of data and involves a nationwide rollout spanning six months.
"LIFE TIME FITNESS has always viewed technology as a key driver of competitive advantage," said Brent Zempel, LIFE TIME FITNESS Director of IT who oversaw the project. "Not only will this new integrated member management and point-of-sale system facilitate the high-growth needs of the company, we anticipate that this system will also set a standard for club management software within the Health and Fitness club industry."
Regarding the alliance with Renaissance Worldwide, Inc. to create the new Member Management/POS System, Zempel said, "Renaissance Worldwide is a world-class vendor. With their depth of expertise and vast technical resources, we were able to reduce development time substantially."
With its new system in place, LIFE TIME FITNESS plans to expand its services and reach to the Internet community by offering an array of online services including scheduling, diet planning, workout tracking, and member activities. LIFE TIME FITNESS members will ultimately be able to view their accounts to track club usage data or account information.
The new Member Management/POS System is the largest and most extensive of the applications accessible through the LIFE TIME FITNESS corporate Intranet. "The LIFE TIME FITNESS Intranet provides a single point of access to applications to any employee in the company. The Intranet applications vary depending on employee position, but include online employee education scheduling, online HR and new employee hiring, online member agreements, online customer service modules, and online reports," explained Wesley Bertch, Director of Software Systems at LIFE TIME FITNESS.
"By implementing a system of this scale, LIFE TIME FITNESS is positioning itself as a leader in its field. It was a pleasure working with them on this project and our work together is a great example of how Renaissance works with our customers throughout the project lifecycle from Concept-to-Completion(R) to provide Custom Application Development solutions for the e-conomy," stated Raye LaPlante, President of Renaissance IT Consulting Services (ITCS).
