CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 18, 2000
Companies to integrate eToken and RSA Keon PKI software for
managing digital credentials in corporate networks
Aladdin Knowledge Systems (NASDAQ:ALDN), a global leader in the field of Internet content and software security, today announced they have signed a strategic partnership agreement with RSA Security (NASDAQ:RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security, in which RSA Security's RSA Keon(R) digital certificate management system will be used with eToken, Aladdin's USB-based user authentication device to enable customers to securely store private keys and digital certificates to conduct e-business transactions.
RSA Security's PKI software secures and manages the use of digital certificates. Using Aladdin's portable, house-key size eToken, customers will have a portable method of protecting e-business applications. RSA Keon digital certificates are stored directly on the eToken, allowing eToken users to download certificates using Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer and carry it with them wherever they travel. The strategic alliance provides users with enhanced portability and security for their private keys.
"The RSA Keon PKI family offers customers a secure means of conducting e-business using secure digital certificates," said Bob Pritchard, vice president of partner and corporate development at RSA Security. "By working together as part of the eToken Technology Partnership program, Aladdin and RSA Security can offer customers the ability to securely store their digital credentials on a mobile device and access them to conduct e-business transactions wherever they are."
"Aladdin's partnership with RSA Security is a welcomed addition to the eToken Technology Partnership Program," said Eyal Manger, vice president of business development at Aladdin. "We believe that the integration with RSA-Keon opens an excellent opportunity for Aladdin to utilize extensive RSA channels to resell eToken devices."
More information regarding the integration of eToken and RSA Keon software can be found on Aladdin's Web site, at http://www.ealaddin.com/partners/etoken.asp#Keon and at RSA Security's Web site at www.rsasecurity.com/products/keon.
> About eTokeneToken is a USB token about the size of a normal house key. It is the only token currently available which utilizes as its underlying technology the robust DESX symmetric encryption algorithm with a key length of 120 bits. Unlike other USB security tokens, the eToken contains open, non-proprietary standards, making integration and security certification quick and smooth. eToken's unique open architecture facilitates rapid customization and smooth integration of specialized algorithms. eToken also incorporates an improved USB connector and newly designed one-piece plastic housing, providing an enhanced tamper-proof container.
The product's USB functionality and strong two-factor authentication enable organizations to eliminate costly implementation and installation issues normally associated with deployment of smart cards and biometric devices. According to computer industry sources, more than 250 million desktop and laptop computers are already fitted with at least one USB port. The ability to securely store private keys and digital certificates enables integration with existing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) products from all major PKI vendors. To underscore this capability, Aladdin actively participates in the PKI Forum (www.pkiforum.org) to further the development and acceptance of USB tokens as a key enabler for PKI solutions.
