FileNET Helps Drive the Development of B2B Process Management Standards, Helping Organizations Worldwide Improve the Integration of

eBusiness Transaction Processing Systems and Applications

FileNET (Nasdaq:FILE), a leading provider of eProcess Management solutions, Monday announced that it has joined the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI.org), an initiative focused on creating an open specification for eBusiness process management.

"BPMI.org plays an essential leadership role in driving the development of open eBusiness process management standards that can be shared across computing systems and multiple industries," said Dan Whelan, chief technology officer, FileNET.

"As a leader in workflow and eProcess management technology over the past decade, FileNET is committed to developing new standards that enable businesses to leverage the power of the Internet, which will improve the management of their business processes over the Web.

"FileNET's eProcess Services will embrace these emerging open standards, ensuring our customers are using the most cutting-edge eBusiness solution available."

FileNET's Panagon eProcess Services is an industry-leading eBusiness software solution used by large organizations worldwide to manage complex business processes and extend them to the Web through XML exchange.

"We are pleased to welcome FileNET as a new BPMI.org member," noted Ismael Ghalimi, CEO of Intalio and initiator of BPMI.org. "FileNET has developed unique expertise in the management of complex business processes and is a key contributor to the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC). We expect their expertise to be leveraged for making BPML processes interoperate with WfMC workflows."

The 60 members of BPMI.org are developing the Business Process Modeling Language (BPML) specification, which will standardize the meta-language for business process modeling over the Web, much like XML Schema has emerged as the meta-language for business data modeling. Members of BPMI.org include Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Computer Sciences Corp., Epicentric, and Hewlett-Packard.

BPMI.org defines open specifications, such as the Business Process Modeling Language (BPML) and the Business Process Query Language (BPQL), that will enable the standards-based management of eBusiness processes, in much the same way that SQL enabled the standards-based management of business data with off-the-shelf Database Management Systems (DBMS).

BPMI.org's goal is to standardize technologies that will enable any company to develop and operate business processes that span multiple applications and business partners, behind the firewall and over the Internet.
