COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 19, 2000
Emulex is First Company to Receive Sun's Certification for Both PCI
and SBus Fibre Channel Host Adapters
Emulex Corp. (Nasdaq:EMLX), the world's largest independent supplier of Fibre Channel host bus adapters, Tuesday announced its LightPulse(TM) SBus LP8000S host adapters have been awarded the "Solaris(TM) Ready" certification from Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq:SUNW) for Sun SPARC(TM) Enterprise servers running the highly reliable and scalable Solaris(TM) Operating Environment.
The Solaris Ready certification program recognizes "best-of-breed" products that have passed testing criteria defined and controlled by Sun. Emulex's LP8000S joins its PCI-based LP8000 host adapter in receiving Sun's certification, which positions Emulex as the only company to have received the Solaris Ready logo for both PCI and SBus Fibre Channel host adapters.
"Our qualification process consists of a rigorous series of tests, and Emulex's SBus host adapters demonstrate the performance and quality that Sun servers demand," said Nicola Krest, Solaris Ready I/O marketing manager, Sun Microsystems. "The Solaris Ready logo ensures Emulex's customers that the product has been verified to operate in Sun's Solaris Operating Environment SPARC Platform Edition."
The Solaris Ready logo allows customers to readily identify third-party products as easy to install and interoperable within Sun's Solaris Operating Environment. Customers can benefit from this program in terms of increased user satisfaction, improved productivity, high system availability and reduced interoperability conflicts.
"The Solaris Ready program certification of both our SBus and PCI host adapters assures Solaris Operating Environment users that Emulex designs its market-leading host adapters with the robustness that Sun's rigorous qualification tests demand," said Mike Smith, vice president of worldwide marketing for Emulex.
"We are pleased to become the first company to receive Sun's certification for both SBus and PCI Fibre Channel host adapters."
