SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 19, 2000
Alacritech, Inc., a leading provider in TCP/IP acceleration solutions that dramatically boost the performance of network-attached devices, today announced it has received a GSA (Government Services Administration) Schedule from the federal government, approving the company as a supplier to federal, state and local government agencies. Further accelerating its entry into this new market, Alacritech also announced that CDW Government, Inc., direct solutions provider of computing technology to the federal government, will resell its products.
"The Alacritech network adapters are great solution for government agencies seeking to get more out of their server investments," said Barry Haaser, vice president of marketing for Alacritech, Inc. "Our existing customers are finding network-intensive applications, like backup, CAD, imaging, and groupware, operate 30 to 70 percent faster with our adapters. By doubling server performance, federal agencies can delay or postpone purchases on new servers, freeing-up money for other IT expenditures."
CDW-G is a leading supplier of name brand information technology to educational institutions and U.S. federal, state and local government agencies. A wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq:CDWC), CDW-G was recently ranked as a leading reseller by government end-users. CDW will also have Alacritech products available for resale.
"This relationship with Alacritech offers government agencies a quick and efficient way to get the high-quality products they've come to expect from CDW-G," said Larry Kirsch, senior vice president, CDW-G. "This distribution agreement demonstrates our efforts to provide federal customers the best-of-breed IT products available in the marketplace through the GSA Schedule. Our relationship with Alacritech gives government customers another reason to choose CDW-G."
Alacritech SLIC Technology
As systems and servers are tapped with increasing amounts of network traffic, systems are being forced to process data faster and more efficiently. Network adapters based on Alacritech's SLIC(TM) (Session-Layer Interface Card) Technology can deliver outstanding performance for Internet and business applications by offloading TCP/IP processing from the host server CPU to reduce CPU utilization, boost data throughput and decrease network latency.
SLIC Technology is completely compatible with Ethernet, TCP/IP and today's standard PC hardware and software. Alacritech server adapters are compatible with legacy network adapters and all existing Ethernet infrastructure equipment such as switches, hubs and routers.
About Alacritech, Inc.
