ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 19, 2000

Outlines broad integration strategy for

market-leading eBusiness solutions

MediaBin, the leading image content management developer for eBusiness, today announced their membership within Vignette's Alliances Program while outlining the benefits of comprehensive image content management for Vignette customers: increased control over brand and product-related images, accelerated image deployment and change management, and lower operating costs.

When fully integrated with Vignette's V/5 Content Management Server and V/5 Syndication Server, MediaBin will provide customers with the ability to transparently direct MediaBin's image processing functions to support image-related changes in web templates. In addition, the integrated solution will automatically accommodate the diverse needs of business affiliates receiving syndicated content.

Today, eBusiness software solutions, even those that address the market category of content management, assume that web images are inserted into the system in a "ready-to-use" state. The fact that teams of graphic artists must painstakingly produce web-ready images, from original image files, to the exacting specifications of the web site is taken for granted. If a marketing manager decides that the thousands of thumbnail product images on the eCommerce site should all be 50% larger, a time-consuming and labor-intensive process must initiated - if not rejected out-of-hand as too costly.

MediaBin addresses this issue by combining a full-featured media database with a sophisticated image processing engine. When new image requirements are defined, thousands of images are regenerated and deployed to the web content management system - quickly and automatically. In addition, if a particular source image is revised and approved within the MediaBin repository, MediaBin can automatically regenerate and update all of the "derived images" used on the web.

"The combination of Vignette's eBusiness platform and MediaBin's image management will enable companies to speed time-to-market for new products and to scale their businesses," said John Bacon, CEO of MediaBin. "MediaBin's unique approach to image content management, production and deployment has given companies like Ford, Lear Corporation, and estyle.com a competitive edge. We are excited about bringing these advantages to Vignette's customers in a seamlessly integrated eBusiness system."
