CONCORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2000
SolidWorks Corporation, a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D CAD software for the mainstream market, today announced that more than 5,000 SolidWorks users are sharing their designs using the 3D Instant Website web publishing tool since it was first launched in October 2000. SolidWorks estimates that in just seven weeks, more than 50,000 Web sites have been created on the 3D Instant Website Hosted Server, corporate intranets, and Web servers worldwide. These Web sites have experienced approximately 150,000 visits.
3D Instant Website enables SolidWorks users to quickly and easily create and publish live Web pages with 3D interactive content. 3D Instant Website makes design collaboration easier and more efficient by leveraging the power of the Internet to improve communication throughout the extended design team. SolidWorks customers can publish designs either to a SolidWorks-hosted Web site, or locally to a corporate intranet. Publishing to a SolidWorks-hosted Web site eliminates the need for users to have any Web server infrastructure. Unlike traditional Web publishing tools that provide static 2D images, 3D Instant Website enables users to publish interactive 3D images with a single mouse click. Visitors to the password-protected site can view, rotate, zoom, and pan 3D models without manually downloading or installing any additional viewers or CAD software.
"We are delighted with the rapid adoption of 3D Instant Website," said Ilya Mirman, web business development manager for SolidWorks Corporation. "This tool has captured the imagination of our users, dramatically facilitating simple, ad-hoc collaboration. Every day, we see new ways designers use 3D Instant Website to communicate with their team members around the corner, or on the other side of the world."
